Hummus || 100 Days of Real Food Adapted Recipe

Girls in white dresses and blue satin sashes? No thanks. My favorite things usually involve food. Sing that tune again but this time use these words:

Hummus and pita chips topped with paprika; real and organic, Holy Eureka!

Lol…. I had fun with that. So anyway, I love to make hummus, because even the best store brands are full of junk, and twice as many calories. I prefer this recipe below, only 35 calories per tablespoon, all Real Food and Organic! It’s adapted from 100 Days of Real Food.

Here’s a link to the original recipe. Below is my version!

Yummy Hummus

1 can of chickpeas (or garbanzo beans, they’re the same!). Rinse them out.

Lemon juice (I don’t measure, but I probably put in about 2 tbs.)

Tahini (about 2 tbs. again)

Garlic (about a 1/2 teaspoon)

1 tbs. of olive oil. Sometimes I use less if I add an ingredient like sun dried tomatoes because it has oil on it already.

A little water to get it to the preferred consistency

Salt, to taste

Put it all in a food processor (save the water and salt till last) until you like the consistency! Super easy. I like to add ingredients like roasted red pepper and basil, sun-dried tomato with basil and green olives, or, make it with black beans instead of chickpeas and add cayenne pepper! Yum!
