So I noticed something kind of funny the other day. We have exactly 10 Christmas cards on our mantle. That’s not the funny part… Only two of those cards are NOT pictures I’ve taken. That seems kind of funny to me. It either says 1) I have no friends so I have to rely on my clients for Christmas cards or (the one I am definitely leaning towards) 2) I have the best job ever because I get to spend time making memories with my current friends, and make new friends simply by working!
Photography isn’t just a job to me — it’s a mission, it’s my passion. It’s my goal (and pleasure) to be a part of people’s lives on the happiest days of their lives, and to document those feelings. Weddings, new babies, birthdays, holidays… I get to be there and share in that joy! There will never be regrets about money or time you spend on pictures. I was talking to my friend (and client) today, Brittney, and she mentioned regret over not taking newborn photos of her adorable son. I talked to another friend (and photographer) last Thursday and he was telling me how he knew someone who implied that spending $100 on wedding photography was too much. WHAT???!!! That’s one of the happiest days of your life, and you’re going to trust Uncle Joey to get the artwork you’ll hang in your home, pass down to your kids, and show all your friends? Well, it seems crazy to me, but maybe that’s why I do what I do. To me, it’s priceless.
So I’m just blessed this Christmas season. Blessed to have an amazing husband and family, blessed to have a new home and dog this year, blessed to have a job that I love, and blessed to know the real reason for the season, Jesus, as my personal Lord and Savior. It doesn’t get much better than that. Merry Christmas everyone!
